The 2004 AVAN Concentracion was aged for 12 months in French oak. Nearly opaque, this purple-colored wine exhibits aromas of toast, vanilla, lavender, blueberry, and blackberry liqueur. It has greater depth and richness than its sibling as well as more structure. Give it 2-4 years to evolve and drink it through 2017.

Saturated violet. Highly concentrated, very ripe and fresh on the nose, offering strong scents of floral pastille, blackcurrant and candied cherry. Spicy and rich, the dark fruit flavors showing liqueur-like concentration and sweetness, but there's also brightness and clarity here. Finishes spicy and long, with a chewy texture and an insinuating sweetness. This is remarkably lithe in spite of its richness and power. By Josh Raynolds September 2006
