The 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape is a medium to full-bodied. elegant offering exhibiting a plum/ruby color as well as a sweet nose of kirsch liqueur. figs. spice box. pepper. and soy. With outstanding purity. balance. and lushness. it should be consumed over the next decade. By the way. I rated it in the low eighties. but Perrin’s 2002 Chateauneuf du Pape was one of the better 2002s I tasted from this appellation. (RP. 2/2004)
