Overview

The 2023 Beaune Montrevenots 1er Cru is more successful on the nose than Sauzet's Epenottes with darker fruit, though here, the stems are more integrated and there is greater depth. The palate is medium-bodied with fine delineation and hints of tobacco interlacing the dark berry fruit with a gentle grip on the finish. Fine.

The 2023 Hautes Côtes de Beaune Blanc Jardin du Calvert is made of the last fruit to be picked. Subtle wet pavement scents percolate through the malic fruit on the nose, although it's perhaps not quite as comely as the Bourgogne Blanc this year. The palate is well balanced with a crisp bead of acidity, fine complexity, light apricot and citrus peel notes with a harmonious finish. This is very fine for its class. By Neal Martin November 2024
