The 2022 Volnay Village has opened up on the nose since I tasted it from barrel: again, brambly red fruit, just that faintest of floral scents (lavender/potpourri) with satisfying delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with a welcome touch of black pepper on the entry, maybe a bit "skinny" for a Volnay, though that is reflecting the growing season. I just find a little herbaceousness seeping through on the finish, therefore I would drink this over the next five to ten years. By Neal Martin March 2024
