Overview

The 2022 Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard is a very pretty, floral Chardonnay. I find it a touch closed today. White flowers, lemon peel, chalk, mint, dried herbs, sage and crushed rocks open with some reticence. This is one of the few Kistler 2022s that I would cellar for now. As always, the Hudson has a slightly reductive character.

The 2022 Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard is delicate and detailed. "Hudson can be big and powerful," winemaker Jason Kesner says. "This is a very different expression." It has a singular perfume of panna cotta, pear blossom, white pepper and cashew. The light-bodied palate is soft and silky with floral, spicy flavors. Its taut acidity gives it a shimmery feel, and it has a long, pure finish. By Erik Brooks, 7/2024
