In the 2019 vintage, this estate was a highlight of the Mouiex portfolio, and the 2020 Latour à Pomerol is a terrific follow-up. Bursting with aromas of cherries, dark berries, licorice, black truffle and petroleum jelly, it's medium to full-bodied, with a broad attack that segues into a rich core of fruit that's framed by sweet, powdery tannins.

The 2020 Latour à Pomerol has retained a very similar bouquet to the one that I encountered from barrel with blackberry, loam and pencil box scents, perhaps one of the most Médocian noses that I have observed in this Pomerol even though paradoxically it is 100% Merlot! The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. Fine build though it remains compact and linear, finally fanning out in its final third. There is a touch of chewiness just on the finish, but I feel this is developing the substance and structure for long-term ageing. By Neal Martin December 2022
