Overview

The Montevertine 2024 Pian del Ciampolo is a blend of 90% Sangiovese, 5% Canaiolo and 5% Colorino, with vinification and aging in cement and large oak casks. A little reduced at first, the wine needs some time to open, revealing bright redcurrant, blueberry, violet and iris. It has a punchy, vertical delivery with a silky, lean-bodied style and fine, accessible tannins. This is bright and energetic, although it probably needs a little more time to flesh out. Production is 26,000 bottles.

The natural personality of a year marked by cool weather, late-season rain and the style of Radda combine to result in a decidedly slender, lithe Pian del Ciampolo.
