NV Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Essentiel contains 30% reserve wines and was aged for five years on lees. Smoky reduction immediately sets the tone, offering a salty shortbread and wet oyster shell backdrop. The palate is wonderfully sinuous and taut, with the essential Blanc de Blancs brightness and slenderness bedded on smooth, yeasty reduction and accentuated by tiny bubbles that create a creamy mousse. This is a smoldering, sinuous Blanc de Blancs—utterly moreish and elegant. Dosage is 4.8 grams per liter. Disgorged: May 2023.

Based on the 2017 vintage and complemented by 30% reserve wines, Piper-Heidsieck’s NV Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs Essentiel was disgorged in May 2023 with a dosage of 4.8 grams per liter. Sourced from the Côte des Blancs, Montagne de Reims and Sézannais, it reveals an expressive bouquet of pear, white peach and yuzu, mingling with notes of candied citrus, freshly baked bread and a hint of smoky reduction. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, fleshy and charming, with racy acidity and a pillowy mousse that leads to a long, toasty finish. By Kristaps Karklins October 2025
