The 2022 Riesling Wawerner Goldberg Grosses Gewächs is shy on the nose, offering citrus zest and a little earthy yeast and mossiness. The palate immediately strikes with a yeasty texture, marked by pithy depth, seeming to want to hold on to all the fruit. This is still very tightly coiled, very pithy, all about texture for now, a sleeper. (Bone-dry)

The 2022 Goldberg GG shows clear, fine slate spice with herbal notes, but behind that, there is also elegant and concentrated fruit with hints of lemongrass. Juicy, savory and salty on the palate, this is a dense Saar Riesling with good tannin structure and compact length. It needs to develop further, though.
